DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING

The department of E&EE was established in the year 2004. The department caters the need of the students by providing quality education. The department is well equipped with state of the art laboratories with excellent computational facilities. The department has 115 computers with licensed version of MiPower and MATLAB software.

This course is designed to meet the needs of Electrical Power Generation, Power Transmission and Distribution, Electrical Power Utilization, Modern Control Theory, Electrical CAD, High Voltage Engineering, Circuits, Machines, Drives etc., on completion of this course one is expected to know the knowledge of various field as mentioned above.

Some of the special equipment’s include: Synchronous Machine, D.C Machine, Transformers, Relays, High Voltage Generators, Modules of Controls, Modules of Power Electronics, Digital Storage Oscilloscopes etc.

Students who graduate in Electrical and Electronics get an opportunity to work in core electrical companies in the field of design, manufacturing, maintenance, electronics industries and software industries. Students can pursue higher education in the field of electrical, electronics, management and computers.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES OF E& E DEPARTMENT:
Provide graduates with a solid foundation in electrical engineering that will prepare them to pursue advanced studies in electrical engineering or chosen field of interest.
Participate effectively in engineering design while recognizing problem constraints and the impact of solutions.
Provide multi skilled graduates with modern tool usage to create and manage social and global awareness.

About the Department:
The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering was started in 2004. The department has well qualified & dedicated faculty members; 14 teaching, 1 Foreman, 2 Assistant Instructors and one office clerk. Highly qualified experienced and dedicated staff members are the backbone of the department.

The department has faculty members from various specializations namely, Power Systems, Power Electronics, VLSI Design and Embedded Systems, Industrial Electronics, Micro Electronics and Control Systems and Computer Applications to Industrial Drives. The Department deputes faculty members to attend seminars, workshop and conferences to gain exposure to current trends and research activities being carried out in the field of Electrical & Electronics Engineering. Faculty members publish research papers in National & International conferences.

Facilities:
Research & Development:The department has sought permission to establish R & D centre in the academic year 2014-15.

Software packages:Department has 115 Pentium -IV computers with a licensed version of software packages which is useful for laboratory, project work and research activity.

Library: Department has its own library with a wide collection of books relevant to the discipline.

OTHER ACTIVITIES:
The department conducts Technical Fest-“SURGE” every year. The fest helps in bringing out the hidden talents of the students. Students get an opportunity to express and enhance their knowledge by participating in the different events conducted in the fest. Different events such as; Paper presentation, Model exhibition, Technical talk from eminent speakers, Technical Quiz, Photography contest, Circuit building contest etc. are conducted for the students benefit.

“Technical talk” from eminent persons from academics and industries are arranged to enlighten the students with current trends in Electrical & Electronics Engineering field.

Innovative projects on Pico hydro generation was completed by the final year students which was funded by KSTSC, Karnataka.

Workshops are organized to enhance the knowledge of the students.

Workshop on “ Research Methodologies and Latex” was organized for the faculties to update their knowledge on research topic selection and usage of latex software to write the thesis.

Students along with faculty members visited Sharavathi Hydroelectric Plant, Varahi Power Plant, Vajamnagal Transmission and distribution division, Mysore, Kadakola substation, Mysore district and S.R.S Hootgali Transmission division, Mysore to enhance their practical skills on power system.

The department faculties deliver special lecture at various prestigious institutes.

Students undergo internship program in KPTCL and reputed companies in Mysore.
